How to come to Ireland

Map of Ireland (123 Kb)

by air:

To reach Ireland you may comfortably travel by air. The three most important airports are Dublin, Cork and Shannon. Before you travel it is worth to make a reservation at car rental companies. Dublin airport is about 228 km distance and you should plan with 4 hours of driving. Shannon airport is about 100 km away and you need about 1hour 45 minutes driving time. Cork airport is the nearest with about 50 km distance which you cover in about 45 minutes driving time. At the section Links we also have links to the homepages of the most important airway-companies.

by car or motorbike:

There are enough ferry-routes from the continent (France) or via England to reach Ireland. Very useful are so-called "landbridge-tarifs" (from France directly to Ireland and return via England or vice versa). In the section Links you will find the homepages of the relevant ferry companies.
How to come from Rosslare (Ferryport) to us:

When you reach Ireland via Europort in Rosslare please be aware of the left-side traffic! Follow the main road in direction Wexford. You will pass some roundabouts until the main traffic forks into two main directions. North to Dublin and south to Cork. Follow the N25 southwards in direction Cork. You will automatically reach New Ross where you have to follow in direction Waterford. Entering Waterford you will (depending on the time of the day) have quite a lot of traffic. Keep on the N25 and drive through the city. After Waterford you will then after a while come to Dungarvan (N25). Shortly before entering the town you will find the exit to the N72 directing to Cappoquinn and Lismore Castle. Use the N72 and keep staying so long as you enter Fermoy. At the main crossing in the middle of the town (you can't miss it!) you have to go right, crossing a river (Blackwater) and then directly after the bridge turn left. Follow the N72 in direction Mallow. After about 15 minutes you enter Castletownroche and you may see the castle to your left at the hill on the other side of the river (Awbeg). Enter the town (up the hill) and on the left side you see a gas station. 50 meter after that the road forks and you turn to left - further 100 meters and you see the entrance and gate to the castle. You are at the end of your trip! Now only follow the private road to the castle.
